We’re heading to Europe this week. The nature of our trip means that we are revisiting some cities that we’ve been too before. To keep things fresh and exciting, here are five things new to us this time.
- Lisbon
- Attending the Opera in Florence
We are seeing La Traviata at the Opera house. Tuscany is the birthplace of Opera (I think) so it feels like we should experience it as intended.
- Experiencing an “eat with” meal in Paris
I only recently heard about Eat With (www.eatwith.com) and love the idea of dining with others at someone’s home. We’ve opted in to do this in Paris as my attempts to find us a cooking class in Provence have proved fruitless.
- Getting our pasta on at an Italian cooking school in Florence
While France cooking class alluded me, we are booked in for a four course class in Florence. I picked this one for the price and that it has Tiramisù on the menu!!!
- Stopping over in Bangkok on the way home
Normally we book long haul flights with minimal layovers (i.e. our Dubai airport stop on the way to Europe is a tight 2 1/2 hours). But this time we have 13 hours to kill in Bangkok. My plan: temples, markets, street food. We’re not staying the night so I can’t treat Darryl and Glenda (my mother-in-law) to my dulcet tones of “One night in Bangkok” 🎶
Only five sleeps until we depart Aotearoa!
