There is something about writing down your goals and plans that makes them seem more tangible and that I may have to be accountable for them in some way.
2015 saw a reduction in my travel, partly due to my new job where I “technically” didn’t have any holidays (but I did have an amazing boss who gave me some leeway).
However, I still managed to get to Italy, Greece, and Australia as international destinations.

New Zealand travel was no less exciting this last year – Waiheke Island, the Coromandel, Taupo, and our very own Hobbiton. It was great to get to places I haven’t even been to in my own back yard and explore – our weekend on Waiheke was a real highlight for me!
So where to in 2016?
Our next big adventure:
Darryl and I have been talking about the Middle East and North Africa for a wee while. At this stage, our plans take us to: Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel. Darryl surprised me the other day by asking how I would feel about traveling to Iran. I did take a few hours to give him an answer. I guess I needed a moment to do some research and really consider how I would feel. And the answer I came up with was … Fine. At this stage it looks as if September/October may be when we go. My hesitation was based around fear of the unknown and uncertainty about our safety. However, reading through others travel blogs, the Safe Travel recommendations (which are nearly the same as those for Greece), and really questioning myself about my hesitations I decided that Darryl’s idea was great and that we should go.

I would also like to make it back over to Australia to visit my sister again. This is really just time and money dependent.
Around New Zealand:
I have traveled heaps around the world but still feel that I’m missing out on parts of my own country. I would love to get to the East Coast of the North Island – Gisborne, Napier and Hastings – as I’ve only been there for work. Darryl and I have also talked about walking one of the main tracks in the South Island – probably the Milford Track – which would be both beautiful and a real motivator to lose some weight and get fit!

Who knows what 2016 will actually have in store for us, but planning it sure is fun!
